Eventful Fall in Park City….As temperatures have dropped, things have heated up in Park City. It all started with Vail acquiring Park City Mountain Resort. In purchasing the resort, PCMR is now on the Epic Pass. The Epic Pass gets you unlimited skiing at any of Vail’s resorts and is a great deal starting at $589.

The most recent news, which broke late on Friday, is that Deer Valley is purchasing Solitude. By Vail coming into town and offering a great vaule, maybe Deer Valley felt they needed to up their game. They issued a statement which specifically states that Vail’s purchase of PCMR had nothing to do with the purchase of Solitude, but I highly doubt it. Deer Valley will not take over at Solitude until May 2015, so there will be no changes this ski season. However, it looks like the stars are aligning to link more and more of these ski resorts together.

All of this activity has generated a slew of national press, which has our phones ringing off the hook. Just a quick update on where we are on reservations:

-The week of Dec 20-27 is over 50% sold out

-The week of Dec 27-Jan 3 is 95% sold out

-Old Town/Main St areas are sold out for Sundance (first 5 nights – Jan 22-27)

-We are already starting to see February and March fill in, which is early in the booking calendar to start getting those reservations

If you are looking to come out to Park City or Deer Valley this year for a ski vacation, you should start planning ASAP.
